Jun 23, 2014
Metropica Holdings, LLC, the holding company for the 65-acre mixed use development by the same name, continues to make progress with City officials as it continues its way through the approval process at City Hall tonight.
Following unanimous recommendations for approval by Sunrise Planning and Zoning and the City’s Land Planning Agency, Metropica will go before the City Commissioners tonight for the first reading of an ordinance approving the development’s rezoning from a B-3 designation (General Business) to PDD (Planned Development District). A resolution approving the Master Development Plan is also expected to be heard and voted on.
Located at the Northeast corner of Sunrise Boulevard and 136th Avenue, Metropica will house world-class residential, commercial and public green spaces upon completion. Metropica was designed using concepts of “new urbanism” and “human modernism”; strategies that strive to create pedestrian- and-eco-friendly environments that offer a higher, healthier quality of life in places reflective of their time. Metropica is positioned in close proximity to regional transportation hubs including two international airports, two executive airports and two sea ports, also boarded by major highways including I-75, the Florida Turnpike and I-595
