YOO Studio, led by prominent architect Philippe Starck, will design the interior of the first condominium tower at the Metropica project in Sunrise.
Master developer K Group Holdings and residential partner the Trillist Cos. are sharing more about the condo component of its $1 billion project just west of the Sawgrass Mills mall. The site was approved for 1,250 high-rise residential units, 485,000 square feet of commercial space and 150,000 square feet of office space.
The initial 263-unit condo tower will be 28 stories tall. It will be called YOO at Metropica after the designer who has crafted the interiors of high rises around the world, including in Miami. The developer also signed Chad Oppenheim as the exterior architect.
“We have worked closely with Oppenheim to ensure that the overall scheme, from the inside out, has a holistic message,” YOO Studio director Mathew Dalby said in a news release. “The marriage of Oppenheim’s dynamic architecture and the YOO Studio innovative approach to designing living spaces that delight, surprise and enhance life has resulted in ground breaking vertical living that will encourage and foster communities of like-minded people.”
The units will run 740 square feet, 1,100 square feet and 1,300 square feet. The project will also have 10 penthouses averaging 1,900 square feet each. Prices start in the mid $200,000s up to the high $900,000s.
Its amenities will include a resort-style pool, fitness studio, outdoor yogi, steam room, sauna, two full-sized tennis courts, a play room, an outdoor game area, a bar and lounge, and indoor pet facilities.
YOO at Metropica should break ground early in second quarter 2015 and be completed in late fall 2016.
