Sunrise planning and zoning advisory board sets the stage for the next phase of Metropica
May 30, 2014
Metropica Holdings LLC presented its master plan for Phase I of Metropica to the Sunrise Planning and Zoning Advisory Board and received a unanimous recommendation for approval.
The high profile property is strategically located next to Sawgrass Mills Mall, the Sawgrass International Corporate Park and the BB&T Center, some of the State’s top/most visited tourist destinations. At yesterday’s meeting, the advisory board recommended the land be re-zoned from B-3 (General Business District), to a Planned Development District (PDD).
Situated on 50 acres, Metropica will house world-class residential, commercial and public green spaces. Metropica was designed using concepts of “new urbanism” and “human modernism”; strategies that strive to create pedestrian- and-eco-friendly environments that offer a higher, healthier quality of life in places reflective of their time. Metropica is positioned in close proximity to regional transportation hubs including two international airports, two executive airports and two sea ports, also boarded by major highways including I-75, the Florida Turnpike and I-595.
